Celebrating 35 years of caring for animals! Proud to have helped hundreds with our dedicated volunteers. Thank you for your support!

Today marks our 35th anniversary, with our centre officially opening on July 17th, 1989.

Our journey has never been easy, but we’re proud to have helped hundreds of animals live out their remaining days with the care and love they deserve, and we continue to help many more.

Over the years, our sanctuary has grown, and now cares for more animals than ever before, including horses of all sizes, goats, pigs, llamas, ferrets, and birds of prey.

Our volunteers are truly at the heart of our centre. With no paid staff, our dedicated volunteers manage everything, from day-to-day animal care, mending fences, and taking our stalls to events, to feeding the cats, running our café and visitors centre, and so much more.

Throughout the years, we’ve had some remarkable experiences, such as proudly caring for Goliath, once the Guinness World Records tallest horse, taking Cracker the Shire horse to the Paul O’Grady TV show in London, and bringing our resident animals to numerous themed events across the country. We’ve also grown our fundraising events, many of which are now sellouts and became a registered charity.

Our sanctuary is entirely run by donations; we receive no government funding. We are always thankful to our supporters, many of whom have been with us from the very beginning.

As we continue to evolve our fundraising efforts, we have adapted our seasonal opening days to include extra hands-on activities. These include our popular and unique horse grooming sessions, llama walking experiences, birds of prey handling sessions, and ferret playtime sessions.

As we reflect on the past 35 years, we are humbled by the knowledge that we have provided the best care and love for our former residents. We commit to continuing that excellent care for the years ahead.

We would love to hear about your first visit to us. If you have any comments or pictures, please feel free to share.

You can also support us by leaving a donation on our website at www.northcotehorses.com/donate.

Thank you for your support. ❤️
