Visiting the Horse Centre!

Meet the goats, chickens & more!

Who Are We

For over 25 years the Northcote Heavy Horse Centre has been a popular family day out and place to visit in Lincolnshire! We're unlike anywhere else because we host a very unique 'hands on' programme where we actually give visitors the chance to groom, learn and get close to the magnificent gentle giants here in our care.

We are a registered charity (1137340) and working horse rescue sanctuary, our aim is to provide an exciting and memorable day out whilst educating visitors on the importance of horse welfare and their impact on the world! We'd love you to visit when you're on holiday in Skegness or just anytime in Lincolnshire! The Heavy Horse Centre is a perfect place to visit this summer holiday with the kids!

Admission Information

We only ask for a kind donation to visit, the horse sanctuary is ran entirely by donations from the public. A donation of any size helps secure the future for the horses and animals in our care and helps us to carry on educating visitors on their welfare, history & legacy.

We also have an on site gift shop with various heavy horse gifts for equestrian lovers and other general gifts. Sales from our shop also helps the animals in our care here.

You can visit our online gift shop at

When To Visit

Please see our opening times page for all of our 2016 visiting dates including all of our special event dates.

The Northcote Heavy Horse Centre is an animal charity and we rely on the public for help, that means all our staff are volunteers and help run the centre throughout the year. Because we have no paid staff we can only open on certain days throughout the week and currently cannot open on weekends.

Meet The Alpacas!

Visitors can now meet our resident Alpacas!
Come and meet Chewbacca and Trevor!

The Alpacas join the other animals here at the Northcote Heavy Horse Centre, the centre is home to goats, geese, ducks and chickens. Not to mention lots of natural wildlife roaming and flying around! On certain days you might also get to meet the resident birds of prey that live here!

So why not come and meet them all!
(Lets not forget all the horses too!)

And the birds!

On Thursdays we're open to field viewing days only, visitors are more than welcome to come in and see the horses from the fields, view some working horse demonstrations and enjoy the peace & serenity of the English countryside. Lots of people throughout the year who come and visit enjoy a nice picnic in the fields whilst watching the horses enjoy their deserved rest. Our tea room is open as usual.

We don't think you'll find a more peaceful atmosphere! We're in the middle of the countryside with very little noise, perfect for picnics or just enjoying the scenic countryside.

Special Event Days

Throughout the year we host special themed & exciting events such as our very popular Medieval Tournaments. Over the years thousands of people have seen our rescue horses take part in medieval riding skills and even medieval jousting! Our events are action packed and great days out whilst visiting!

We also host popular Medieval Banquet evenings featuring full hog roast dinners and lots of entertainment! Go ahead and check out our events page for full details and future dates! (we're also available for hire!)

Hens Nest Tea Room

On your visit you'll be delighted by our cosy Hens Nest Tea Room with it's pleasant country charm and friendly volunteer staff. Due to volunteer schedules we can't always guarantee hot food but toasties, jacket potatoes, sandwiches and teas & coffees will always be on hand.

We also have on-site toilets and washing facilities and all our buildings are wheelchair friendly.

Our Northcote gift shop is always open and full of gifts,
t-shirts designs, adoptions, souvenirs and lots more!
Credit/debit cards are also accepted.
